People are a key stakeholder in every democratic society and undermining the people’s voice is tantamount to inviting societal unrest and crisis. Participatory governance entails that citizens get involved by reporting civic issues observed within the society. It also means that the authority listens and takes prompt, appropriate, and adequate actions to address issues brought to their awareness. There has been the missing middle to make participatory governance happen in Nigeria.
Talkamnaija is a social enterprise, non-partisan, and non-governmental organisation seeking to promote participatory governance in Nigeria. We are concerned Nigerians aiming to contribute to our nascent democracy and promote participatory governance to achieve an inclusive, working society. We provide a web-based platform to engage the citizens and residents and get them involved in timely reporting of public issues for timely resolutions to achieve an inclusive, equitable, and progressive society for all. We are here to connect the authorities and the people by providing factual evidence to support every reported issue via this platform in an authentic manner.

Empirical research has shown a correlation between good governance and economic growth. We hope that Nigeria becomes an inclusive society via participatory governance and experiences some economic turnaround. For example, there should be a drastic reduction in or total elimination of unnecessary money spent on conflict resolution, neglect, oversight and allied societal issues.

Mission
Our mission is to change the public’s attitude towards public issues such as public infrastructure maintenance in Nigeria and get the concerned authorities into more efficient management of society and public infrastructures. We will be the middleman to deepen Nigeria's democracy via responsible citizens' reporting and proactive response and action from concerned authorities.
